Denver city government, agencies to close for Veterans Day

Denver will take the time to honor the military on Tuesday, closing a slew of government offices and agencies in observance of Veterans Day.

The mayor’s office, City Council, the Clerk and Recorder, the auditor and most other city agencies will be closed the whole day for the holiday. Agencies that operate on a 24/7 basis, such as Denver International Airport and the Denver Police and Sheriff’s Departments, will remain open and operational.

The Denver County Court, as well as all state-operated courts — including Denver District Court, juvenile court and probate court — will be closed for the holiday. Denver Motor Vehicle Registration will be closed as well.

Additionally, all Denver Public Library locations will be closed Tuesday.

The U.S. Postal Service will also be closed for the holiday and will close its retail services on Tuesday, according to a news release. Self-serve kiosks will remain available in post office lobbies, but only Priority Mail Express will be delivered during the holiday.

Like on all recognized city holidays, Denver parking meters will be free on Tuesday.

Other 24-hour services that will remain open during the holiday include Denver Health, Denver Fire and other emergency responders.

The next federal holiday will be Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 27.
