South Dakota runs away from Air Force women in fourth quarter

South Dakota scored 16 consecutive points in the fourth quarter Friday, speeding away as it handed the Air Force women their first loss of the season 75-50 in Vermillion, S.D.

The only lead of the game for the Falcons (1-1) came on the game’s opening basket from South Dakota native Jayda McNabb. From there, Air Force spent most of the game playing catchup.

They trailed by nine points in the first quarter, earned a brief tie 26-26 in the second quarter, then closed to within four late int eh third quarter after the deficit again had swelled to nine.

South Dakota (2-0), which shot 57%, then dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Air Force 26-9.

Denver transfer Angelina Robles led all scorers with 22 points for the Coyotes.

Senior Milahnie Perry, making her season debut after an injury, led Air Force with 13 points. Freshman Bhret Clay scored nine points with three rebounds.

Air Force shot 2-of-14 from 3-point range and 10-of-17 from the free-throw line. They finished 35.8% from the field.
