Air Force women fall at Oregon State despite scrappy performance

By Brent Briggeman, The Gazette

The Air Force women found themselves within three points of Oregon State midway through the fourth quarter before a final run proved to be too much in a 60-49 road loss.

The Beavers led by nine in the first quarter and by 12 in the second and third quarters, but Air Force responded to each deficit by clawing within four points until a 6-0 closing push sealed it for the defending West Coast Conference champions.

Oregon native Keelie O’Hollaren led Air Force (1-2) with 13 points, while Jordyn DeVaughn (11) and Milahnie Perry (10) also scored in double figures.

The Falcons led 21-7 in turnovers, which allowed them to stay in the game despite a 19-0 deficit in second-chance points and being outshot 51% to 29%. Air Force attempted 22 more shots than the Beavers (2-0).

The Falcons will play their home opener vs. Manhattan at 3 p.m. Saturday.
