Denver weather: Partly sunny Wednesday as fall heat wave continues

Temperatures on Wednesday across metro Denver remain on the warm side as another day with highs pushing into the 70s is forecast.

Denver residents can expect partly sunny skies today, with a high near 71, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. South winds to blow around 6 mph become north in the afternoon.

Aurora borealis, aka the northern lights, should be visible Wednesday night after a spectacular display across Colorado on Tuesday night, although forecasted cloudy conditions could hamper visibility.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. South winds to blow around 6 mph.

The fall heat wave continues through the rest of the week, with high temperatures in the mid 70s both Thursday and Friday.

A cool down is set to happen over the weekend, and even the some rain showers Sunday night are possible.

Here’s the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. South southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. South southwest wind 7 to 10 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 17 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65.
