Fire sparks near U.S. 36 in Boulder County

As temperatures along the Front Range surpassed 70 degrees Friday afternoon, a fire sparked near U.S. 36 in Boulder County.

The grass fire off Cherryvale Drive is resulting in a considerable amount of smoke on the roadway and surrounding areas, Boulder County officials said on social media Friday afternoon.

The blaze is currently estimated to be 1-2 acres in size, according to Watch Duty.

Fire crews and other law enforcement have responded to the blaze and are getting it under control, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said. Responders could be seen driving down Cherryvale Road in the direction of the fire just after 3 p.m. Friday.

Boulder County officials did not respond to a request for comment about the fire when asked Friday afternoon as of this story’s publication.
