JeffCo deputies arrest man on suspicion of first-degree murder after victim shot in head during road rage incident
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly shot someone in the head on U.S. Hwy 285 earlier this week.
Matthew Impellitteri, 56, faces two counts of criminal attempted first-degree murder after deliberation and two counts of criminal attempted first-degree murder — extreme indifference for allegedly shooting the passenger of a black SUV in the head during a road rage incident near Morrison Tuesday night, according to a Friday news release from JCSO.
The passenger, identified by the family as Kassi Moy, was taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery for the wound, authorities said. She’s still in critical condition.
Officials were initially seeking evidence Wednesday about a light-colored Subaru that was traveling in the same direction as the SUV, they said in a previous news release.
After collecting evidence and statements from witnesses, police arrested Impellitteri at his home in the 8400 block of South U.S. Hwy 285, close to the roadway’s intersection with Settlers Drive where the incident took place, the office said. His cash bond was set in court at $1,000,000 Friday morning.
Moy’s family issued a statement Friday: “The family of Kassi Moy would like to express our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love, concern, prayers, and support for her and our family. We are devastated by what has happened to our beloved Kassi. We appreciate all of the prayers for her at this critical time.”

They started a GoFundMe for her ongoing medical expenses and a long road to recovery ahead.
“Kassi is a brilliant, kind, creative, active, and selfless person who has so much life ahead of her,” according to the family statement. “The impact of what happened to her will affect her physically and emotionally for the rest of her life. … We hope that one day soon Kassi will be able to thank you all from the top of a mountain with her dog, Orbit.”
The office is asking anyone with information or who witnessed this incident to please call its tip line at (303) 271-5612 or email jcsocrimetips@jeffco.us.
