Possible kidnapping victim found safe by Aurora police
The Aurora Police Department located the victim of a potential kidnapping Friday evening after asking the public to help find her.
Authorities were looking for a maroon Toyota 4Runner with a roof rack that was driven by a man who appeared on video to have forced a woman into the car in the 1400 block of Emporia Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Friday social media post from the APD.
Captured on a MESH camera, the video of the kidnapping initially shows a brown-haired woman wearing a white top and blue jeans walking on the left side of the street when a red SUV pulls up beside her. The man is wearing dark-colored clothing.
The driver’s side window of the car appears open and she is saying something to the driver while gesturing with her right hand, which also appears to be holding a cell phone, according to the video. The car then stops and the driver exits, following the woman for a few seconds before grabbing her from behind and lifting her in the air.
The woman kicks her legs and tries to twist out of his grasp, but the man carries her to the car and opens the passenger-side door. Later in the video, she again tries to get away before he picks her up by the legs and puts her into the backseat before closing the door and driving away on Emporia Street before turning west on East 14th Avenue.
The case remains under investigation by the Aurora Police Department.
