5-star Riverdale Ridge standout Brihanna Crittendon announces commitment to Texas
Another girls basketball star from the state of Colorado is leaving home.
Riverdale Ridge senior Brihanna Crittendon, a 5-star recruit in the class of 2026, announced Wednesday that she has committed to Texas over JR Payne’s CU Buffaloes, Tennessee and others.
“I think the main thing was finding a community,” Crittendon said while making the announcement live on 9News. “Texas, they really care about women’s sports, especially women’s basketball.”
Crittendon is rated as the No. 8 high school player in the country, per espnW’s rankings.
It’s the second straight year a local girls basketball standout has chosen to attend college outside Colorado, as former Grandview star Sienna Betts (the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 class) recently began her freshman season at UCLA alongside her older sister, Lauren, another 5-star player from the area who began her career at Stanford.
Crittendon has already put her name in the CHSAA record books with 2,333 points (28.8 per game) across her first three seasons. As a sophomore, she and the Ravens won the 4A state championship over Holy Family.
After making the jump up to the 6A level ahead of last season, Crittendon led Riverdale Ridge to the Final Four, where they lost to Legend.
Crittendon begins her senior season on Dec. 4 against Fossil Ridge, and she is 602 points shy of passing Ridgway’s Tracy Hill (1980-83) for the most points in Colorado girls basketball history.
