Sophomore Kyle Marshall no longer with Air Force men’s basketball
Air Force loses a player just four games into the season.
Sophomore guard Kyle Marshall is no longer with the Falcons men’s basketball team, citing personal reasons, it was announced Wednesday before a home win over Alabama State, the team’s first win of the season.
“He made the decision that he didn’t want to be a part of the program anymore,” coach Joe Scott said. “The guys responded well and I thought our guys were really good today. Good energy in practice yesterday and today. I wish him well and we have to move forward as a team.”
As a freshman, Marshall was a two-time Mountain West Freshman of the Week and played 30 games with 17 starts. The New York native was also fourth among freshmen in the Mountain West in scoring at 6.9 points per game and 7.4 in conference play.
Off the bench this season, Marshall averaged 16.3 minutes and 3.5 points in four games. In Saturday’s 76-61 loss to Miami-Ohio, Marshall put up two points and two rebounds in 16 minutes.
Marshall entered the transfer portal after last year’s 4-28 season, but returned for his sophomore year. The guard also attended the USAF prep school and played on its basketball team.
