No. 3 Denver routs Arizona State 7-1 to remain unbeaten in NCHC
The Pioneers just keep on rolling in NCHC play.
In their fourth road game in the last five overall, No. 3 Denver went into the desert and dominated Arizona State for a 7-1 win, the Pios’ sixth straight as they improved to 9-3-1 on the season.
Five different players found the back of the net as junior defenseman Eric Pohlkamp continued his red-hot start with his team-leading ninth and 10th goals of the season as he notched the opening tally less than four minutes in.
Pohlkamp’s second goal came less than halfway through the second period and gave DU a 4-0 lead.
Freshmen Kyle Chyzowski and Kristian Epperson tallied in the third period as the Pios pulled away to remain unbeaten in NCHC games.
In net, freshman goaltender Quentin Miller continued to excel, stopping 31 of 32 shots for his eighth win in 11 starts. He’s now allowing 1.52 goals per game while a save percentage of .945.
The Pioneers and Sun Devils conclude the series on Saturday night at 5 p.m. in Tempe, Ariz. Coverage is on NCHC.tv and 104.3 FM.
