Coffee, donuts, and the Manitou Incline: The ‘Caffeinated Climb’ returns on Thanksgiving Day
Looking to start your Thanksgiving Day with something active? The Caffeinated Climb will be taking place once again in Manitou Springs.
Participants of this social hike will be tackling the notorious Manitou Incline on the morning of November 27 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. At the top of the route, hikers will be greeted by friendly volunteers handing out coffee and doughnuts.
This year’s Thanksgiving Day climb will be the 5th annual climb to take place. Participating is free, though the website for the event also sells shirts to commemorate the effort.
Participants should remember that the Manitou Incline is an intense hike. It involves climbing 2,768 steps with a total vertical gain of more than 2,000 feet in less than a mile. It’s also worth noting that portions of the Incline and the Barr Trail that’s typically used for the descent can start to get slick around this time of the year, so it’s never a bad idea to pack traction.
