Where the good news shines
Western Colorado sophomore Aidan McDowell and Adams State senior Wyatt Helming claimed the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week awards on Monday.
McDowell continues his scorching start to the 2025-26 season, earning his second straight weekly honor. The sophomore opened the week with a dominant 40-minute outing, pouring in 31 points. He followed that effort with another standout showing, playing 37 minutes and contributing 23 points.
Helming earned the defensive player of the week honor after anchoring the Grizzlies to a perfect 3-0 weekend. The senior opened the stretch by grabbing 12 rebounds, adding two steals and a block against Northwestern Oklahoma. He pulled down 10 rebounds in the next game and closed out the week with another 14 rebounds.
