1,420 people needed to break unofficial ‘world record’ in Breckenridge at Ullr Fest
The magic number of participants the Breckenridge Tourism Office in Breckenridge, Colorado is looking for to break the unofficial world record for most people doing a Shotski at one time is 1,420.
Tickets for the 2025 Shotski event go on sale on today, which is one of the kick off celebrations of Breckenridge’s Ullr Fest, starting Dec. 18. Ticket prices are $23.18 including a $3.18 fee.
The Shotski event has been happening at Ullr Fest since 2013 after two locals, Kristian Slaugh and Litch Polich, bolted together 60 skis totaling 252 feet with 192 people taking a shot to start the tradition.
Park City, Utah got into the Shotski mix in October 2016 after witnessing Breckenridge’s success with the event.
The rivalry between each mountain town grew over the years and has now become an early winter celebration, with each town continuously trying to ‘one-up’ the other each year.
In October 2024, Park City set a new record with 1,385 participants in their Shotski attempt, only to be one-upped by Breckenridge later that year with 1,401 people doing a shot from a 2,477-foot-long ski.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, 1,410 people did a shot attached to 583 skis to break the record for 2025.
Will Coloradans break the record this year?
To be included in the Shotski, Breckenridge Distillery and the Breckenridge Mountain Rotary are hosting the event on Dec. 18, in their quest to defend the title of unofficial World Record for longest Shotski.
