Eric Pohlkamp is on a heater.
The University of Denver (9-5-1, 5-1 NCHC) junior on Thursday was named National Co-Defender of the Month for November by the Hockey Commissioners Association. Pohlkamp has opened the season on a tear, leading all NCAA defensemen with seven goals. His 10 points are tied for third-most among college defensemen.
A Minnesota native, Pohlkamp also was named NCHC Defenseman of the Month after scoring in six of eight games. He also blocked 11 shots and finished with a plus-10 rating in November. The San Jose Sharks drafted a good one.
No. 6 Denver hosts No. 19 Miami (Ohio) at 7 p.m. on Friday (NCHC.tv) and Saturday (Altitude TV).
