Colorado State Patrol finds car last driven by missing woman near Timnath

Colorado State Patrol troopers found a car near Timnath Thursday afternoon they believe was last driven by a woman who has been missing since November.

The car, a black 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan, was found submerged in a canal off the east side of Larimer County Road 1 around 2 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from CSP. Divers found a body inside the car but have not yet identified the person.

CSP, The Colorado Bureau of Investigations and Evans Police Department responded to assist the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office in the response to the crash, according to the release. Officials confirmed that the car was last driven by Kaylee Russell.

Russell, a 20-year-old woman with brown hair and blue eyes, was last known to be near the Loveland/Johnstown Park-N-Ride at 6 p.m. on Nov. 30, according to a missing persons alert by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. She was wearing a tan hoodie, tan pants and brown slippers.

A GoFundMe page in support of Kaylee’s mother, listed as Rebecca, has collected more than $12,000 in donations in just over two days. The fundraiser’s description notes that Rebecca is a single mother and has already lost another child.

The page was updated Thursday with an additional paragraph, “Kaylee has been found and unfortunately, she did not survive. I will continue to collect donations to help with upcoming funeral expenses and additional financial support for Rebecca as she navigates this incredible loss.”
