Aurora woman hit, killed while crossing street
An Aurora woman was killed Sunday after being hit by a truck while crossing the street, according to an Aurora Police Department news release Monday morning.
Officers responded to the crash, at the intersection of South Oak Hill Way and East Smoky Hill Road, southwest of Aurora Reservoir, alongside reports of the Aurora woman killed, just after 1 p.m. Sunday.
The driver of the truck that hit her was making a left-hand turn onto Smoky Hill Road when they hit the adult woman, who was legally in the crosswalk, according to the release.
She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died of traumatic injuries.
The truck’s driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to the release. Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release the woman’s identity pending an autopsy and notification of family.
