Packers at Broncos | The Denver Gazette’s predictions
The Denver Gazette sports staff predicts Sunday’s game between the Broncos and the Green Bay Packers at Empower Field at Mile High:
Paul Klee’s pick: Broncos 24, Packers 20
All the signs — not to mention the betting line, which favors the talented visitors — point to the Packers ending a Broncos win streak that has walked on thin ice for 10 games. But did you know Green Bay has faced only one top-10 scoring defense — and in that game managed only seven points vs. the Eagles? Green Bay has never won in Denver in regulation time (0-7).
Overall record: 9-4
Chris Schmaedeke’s pick: Broncos 21, Packers 17
The Packers have struggled against some of the top defenses, such as the Browns and Eagles. The Broncos defense is as good as, if not better than, both of those groups. Denver harasses Jordan Love and forces him into a pick to help the Broncos hold on for their best win of the season.
Overall record: 9-4
Chris Tomasson’s pick: Broncos 31, Packers 24
The Broncos beat the Packers by that score in Super Bowl XXXII in January 1998, so why not again? Just like the team that won Denver’s first Super Bowl, the Broncos appear to be a team of destiny. Of course, a seven-point win would be a rout considering the slim margins Denver has won games by this season.
Overall record: 10-3
Mark Kiszla’s pick: Packers 16, Broncos 14
Well, I like orange Kool-Aid. Was a staple of my childhood. But I’m not drinking it this weekend. Could this little holiday gathering between the Broncos and Packers be a Super Bowl preview? Could be. But I doubt it. Cheers.
Overall record: 9-4
Kyle Fredrickson’s pick: Packers 24, Broncos 21
The streak had to end eventually. The Broncos finally show cracks on defense with Green Bay’s high-powered passing attack being the difference. A positive spin? The loss gives Denver some extra motivation to finish the year strong before the playoffs.
Overall record: 9-4
