Broncos-Packers face off in possible Super Bowl preview in Denver | The Starting Lineup
Turn on the game!
Three must-see events this week:
1. Green Bay Packers at Broncos (2:25 p.m. Sunday, CBS) — Could we see this matchup again in February? Denver has never been kind to Green Bay, as the Packers are 1-7 all-time in Colorado.
2. Houston Rockets at Nuggets (7:30 p.m. Monday, Altitude) — The first game between these two in Houston was a great regular-season matchup with the Nuggets winning. Can Denver get over its yips at Ball Arena against one of the best teams in the Western Conference?
3. Winnipeg Jets at Avalanche (7 p.m. Friday, KTVD) — The Avs continue to be the best team in the NHL and must-see TV. While the Nuggets have lost four straight at home, the Avs dominate at Ball Arena.
Numbers game
3 — straight wins for the Broncos as a betting underdog. Green Bay is favored by 2.5 going into Sunday’s game at Empower Field.
They said it
“Jokic is the best offensive player… I don’t think he’s the best player. It’s between Giannis and Shai. When I come back to the court, it will be me.”
— Spurs star Victor Wembanyama on the best player in the NBA
On this day
Dec. 14, 1975 – The legendary Floyd Little played his final home game for the Broncos. The Hall of Famer had a receiving and rushing touchdown in the 25-10 win over the Eagles. Kickoff temperature was 18 degrees, which is 42 degrees colder than the predicted temperature for Sunday’s Broncos-Packers game in Denver.
Final word
This hasn’t been said often, but the Rockies are making smart moves this offseason. It hasn’t been with players, but the moves with the front office and coaching staff are promising. Bringing in guys from successful organizations like the Dodgers is a much better plan than just promoting within, like Colorado has done in the past.
