Colorado College hockey continues inconsistent run in nation’s top 20, falls out of rankings after Miami weekend
Colorado College hockey continued its fluctuating relationship with the nation’s top 20 rankings on Monday.
The Tigers, who came into their final series of 2025 ranked 19th, earned two ties at Miami (Ohio) and split the points toward conference standings. As a result, the Tigers are no longer in the USCHO Top-20 poll. CC dropped out of the USA Hockey poll, which was also released on Monday.
CC has been in and out of the nation’s best in the 2025-2026 campaign. The Tigers entered the season outside the top 20 but joined the nation’s elite two weeks into the season. CC climbed to 15th in the country following the team’s nonconference games. After being swept by both Omaha and rival Denver in a three-week span, CC fell out of the top 20 on Nov. 17.
After the Thanksgiving weekend, the team returned to ranked status after splitting series against back-to-back top-20 opponents in Minnesota Duluth and Providence.
The North Dakota Fighting Hawks are the highest ranked team from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference in the USCHO poll. North Dakota remained at No. 4 after sweeping Omaha at home. Minnesota Duluth also maintained its spot. The Bulldogs are still ranked fifth in the nation after a home split against Arizona State.
Denver is still No. 6 following a series split at St. Cloud State. Defending conference and national champion Western Michigan also held fast, remaining at No. 7 during a bye week.
After the holiday break, the Tigers will return to action on the road. CC travels to Augustana Jan. 2-3.
