Sheriff’s office locates deceased 19-year-old after extensive search in Pitkin County
The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office found 19-year-old Stephen Bull deceased near Upper River Road in the Woody Creek area in Pitkin County on Dec. 13.
According to a press release from Pitkin County, Bull was reported missing after he was last seen in the Woody Creek area in the late afternoon on Dec. 2.
An extensive, multi-agency search effort followed Bull’s disappearance, with Mountain Rescue Aspen immediately leading searches where Bull was last seen and in areas familiar to him. The search efforts then moved to broader areas based on developing information and search assessments. The efforts included coordinated ground searches, canine teams, multiple drone operations, aerial support, and investigative work.
Weather conditions, terrain, and changing environmental factors presented challenges for searchers as efforts continued.
Condolences go out to those affected by this death. The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office said that local support is available through the Aspen Hope Center.
