Denver weather: More heat for Christmas: Could a fifth daily high-temp record happen in 2025?

Four of the last eight days have seen a new high temperature record in the month of December; the 15th (68), 19th (69), 21st (67) and 22nd (76, second all time in December).

Tuesday’s high temperature will come close to the record of 73 degrees for Dec. 23, set back in 1901, as the city’s very abnormally dry and warm December continues into Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Denver residents can expect a mostly sunny skies today, with a high near 70, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. South winds to blow between 5 to 9 mph become northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.

Tonight it’ll be mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. South southwest winds between 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day are forecast to be warm with no precipitation in the mix. Christmas Day, Dec. 25, could potentially set a new high temperature record as the forecast calls for a high of 70 degrees with the record being 69 degrees set in 2005.

The month of December has been warmer since the start of the 21st century, where 12 of December’s 31 days have recorded a new day-time high temperature since 2000. Six of those 12 have come within the last ten years.

A slight cool down starts Friday and into the weekend where temperatures drop back into the 60s then 50s, however, no precipitation is forecast across the metro area, only in the state’s mountains heading into New Year’s week.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 67. South southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.

Christmas: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. South southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. Breezy.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 53.
