Denver weather: Clouds move in, but temperatures remain warm for Christmas

Record-high temperatures leading up to Christmas, reaching up to 76 degrees on December 22, are leaving little optimism for a white Christmas in Colorado.

The high for Wednesday, Christmas Eve, will reach 70 degrees with mostly sunny skies and calm winds and dry conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The conditions might not make for a ‘white Christmas,’ but they will be ideal for traveling and commuting during the holidays.

Christmas Eve night, we’ll begin to see some clouds as lows drop down to 41, with light southwest winds, according to the National Weather Service.

Clouds will continue into Christmas morning with heavy cloud coverage that is expected to taper off and gradually become sunny later in the day.

Expect highs in the low 70s for Christmas Day, and clear skies and light winds persisting into the evening.

Here’s the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service.

Christmas: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 71. South southwest wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 17 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. South southwest wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 43.
