Nuggets forward Cam Johnson escapes serious injury but will miss time with knee ailment
It’s not exactly a Christmas miracle, but the news could’ve been a lot worse.
An MRI on Wednesday revealed Nuggets forward Cam Johnson suffered a bone bruise, but there was no structural damage to his right knee after an awkward fall late in Tuesday’s loss in Dallas, according to multiple reports.
Johnson is expected to miss time, but it’s not the catastrophic injury some feared.
“It’s concerning,” Nuggets coach David Adelman said after the game. “It was not a fun sight to see, especially a guy that’s been trending so well, playing so well the last month. (He) has really found his way with our group. … We’ve had a lot of these moments this year. It’s deflating, but hopefully the news is better than it looked, because we know what Cam means to our team.”
Denver likely will be without three regular starters for Thursday’s Christmas nightcap against the Timberwolves. Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon are not expected to return before the team departs for a seven-game road trip.
