No suspects arrested in Aurora Christmas Eve shooting
Investigations into the Aurora Christmas Eve mass shooting continued Friday, with no arrests made, according to police.
The Aurora Police Department began investigating the shooting — two victims were killed and three others injured — around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a previous news release from the department.
Officers responded to the August Apartments complex at 1800 Billings St., just north of Colfax Avenue and east of Interstate 225, after reports of a shooting.
Five victims were found. A 41-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were pronounced dead at a hospital. A 42-year-old woman, a 41-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man all suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police told The Denver Gazette Friday.
Aurora police said their preliminary investigation suggests the shooting happened among known parties and was not a random incident.
“The people knew each other,” spokesperson Gabby Easterwood said.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office will release the identification of the victims following autopsies and notification of the family.
The Denver Gazette reached out to staff at the Augusta Apartments complex, but did not hear back by the time of this report.
The complex has a 1.8-star Google review as of Dec. 26 and was once called Shadow Tree.
