‘Stranger Things’ laser show enthralls Denver Museum of Nature & Science crowd

Sci-fi enthusiasts in Denver are able to experience one of the world’s biggest TV shows in a unique way heading into the new year.

As the Netflix hit series “Stranger Things” debuts its fifth and final season, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is featuring a series-themed laser light show in its Gates Planetarium through early January.

The 45-minute show features a litany of items, characters and scenes, all illustrated in bright neon colors and animated to the sound of the series’ original synth-pop tracks as well as a collection of ’80s rock hits it has been known to feature.

Saturday’s show was the first laser show that “Stranger Things” fans and married couple David and Claire Ramirez had ever attended.

“I think my favorite part was the Metallica song,” David said. “The illustrations, the end with the demon and the Hellfire Club. Cool music too.”

Claire agreed, adding that they had just finished the previous season of the series and planned to see the show before beginning the new fifth season.

“We were hoping there were no spoilers,” Claire said. “I was just thinking during the show how much I want to watch the new season.”

The Netflix original series will release the final episode of its fifth and final season at 6 p.m., Wednesday, just 12 hours before the new year, according to Netflix’s website. The release will cap “Stranger Things'” near-decade run as one of the streaming platform’s premier shows.

The museum’s next Laser Stranger Things show will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday; tickets can be purchased on the museum’s website. The final show will take place on Jan 5.

The show contains some explicit language and may not be suitable for attendees with sensitivities to strobe lights or motion sickness. A general admission ticket is also required for all shows before 4 p.m.
