Nuggets’ Jonas Valanciunas out at least four weeks with calf strain
The Nuggets will be without a true center for the foreseeable future.
Jonas Valanciunas will be reevaluated in four weeks after sustaining a right calf strain in Wednesday’s win in Toronto. The injury comes a couple of days after Nikola Jokic suffered a left knee injury in Miami.
DaRon Holmes II replaced Valanciunas, and the Nuggets used a small-ball lineup when Holmes rested. The Nuggets will be without Jokic, Valanciunas, Aaron Gordon, Christian Braun and Cam Johnson for Friday’s game in Cleveland.
Teams can start signing players to 10-day contracts on Jan. 5.
