Christian Braun, Aaron Gordon take step toward return for Denver Nuggets

Reinforcements are on the way.

Whether they arrive for Sunday’s 1:30 p.m. tipoff in Brooklyn is to be determined. Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon have been upgraded to questionable for Sunday’s matinee game against the Nets.

Braun hasn’t played since spraining his left ankle against the Clippers on Nov. 12. Gordon strained his right hamstring three minutes into Denver’s game in Houston on Nov. 21 and has been sidelined since. Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones have started in their places.

The Nuggets will still be without Nikola Jokic, Cam Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas, while Jamal Murray is probable to play in Brooklyn despite a left ankle sprain.

Former Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. is probable to play for Brooklyn after missing the Nets’ last game with an illness. Nic Claxton and Haywood Highsmith will not be available for the Nets.
