A Super Bowl run (or two) would make Broncos stadium PSLs a much easier sell | The Starting Lineup
Turn on the game!
Three must-see events this week:
1. Avalanche at Tampa Bay Lightning (5 p.m. Tuesday, Altitude TV) — Could this be a Stanley Cup final preview? Tampa Bay’s 51 points trail only Detroit’s 52 in the Eastern Conference.
2. Nuggets at Boston Celtics (5 p.m. Wednesday, ESPN) — The Worldwide Leader might prefer a raincheck when Denver visits TD Garden without Nikola Jokic and at least two other starters.
3. Utah at Colorado basketball (7 p.m. Wednesday, ESPN+) — Wins for the Buffs will be hard to find in the Big 12, placing great emphasis on their home-and-home with the vulnerable Utes.
Numbers game
21.1 million — viewers on Amazon Prime Video for the Broncos-Chiefs game on Christmas night, making the AFC West battle the most-watched Thursday night game in NFL history
Box office
$32 — for a seat when No. 7 Western Michigan visits No. 6 Denver at Magness Arena in a heated rematch of a 2024 Frozen Four semifinal. DU swept Western Michigan in November.
On this day
Jan. 4, 1998 — the Broncos got a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs from Terrell Davis and overcame a 10-7 second-half deficit to beat the Chiefs 14-10 at Arrowhead Stadium in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs en route to a Super Bowl XXXII victory.
Final word
The next Broncos stadium may be privately financed, but the inevitable and expensive personal seat licenses (PSL) will bring sticker shock to Broncos Country. A Super Bowl run or two would make them a much easier sell.
