Suspect arrested in connection with fatal Highlands neighborhood stabbing

Police announced Wednesday they had arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing in Denver’s Highlands neighborhood Monday night.

Christopher Fielder, 38, faces second-degree murder charges on allegations he fatally stabbed a man in the 4200 block of North Lipan Street just before 10 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Denver Police Department.

The victim died in the hospital Tuesday, police said on social media.

Fielder and the victim had previously been in an on-again, off-again relationship and had engaged in prior conflicts, according to the release. Glendale police first took Fielder into custody before he was transferred to Denver.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner in the coming days, pending notification of family and an autopsy.
