Former DU lacrosse coach Bill Tierney to be honored by Denver City Lax | Colorado Sunshine
Where good news shines
Former University of Denver men’s lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney will be honored by Denver City Lax at its annual gala on Feb. 18.
The event will take place at 6 p.m. at Empower Field at Mile High.
Tierney is being recognized as this year’s Champions Circle honoree for his longstanding commitment to Denver City Lax’s trajectory and mission since moving to Denver in 2009.
One of college lacrosse’s legendary coaches, the two-time National Coach of the Year captured his NCAA-record seventh national championship in 2015 when he led the Pioneers to their first. On that Memorial Day, Tierney became the first coach to win national championships in charge of two programs. In his 14 seasons at DU, Tierney amassed a 167-59 overall record and a 69-8 record in conference games.
Tierney continues to live in Denver but is currently coaching the Philadelphia Waterdogs of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL).
