2 people killed in explosion in Pueblo County home

Two people were killed in an explosion and fire at a home in rural eastern Pueblo County on Thursday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) multiple fire and law enforcement agencies responded to the explosion after nearby residents reported hearing the explosion at around 2:45 p.m. near 57th Lane and Cherry Road.

Responders found a structure full engulfed in fire when they arrived on the scene. The fire was quickly controlled.

In an update posted to Facebook on Friday, the PCSO said that a man and a woman were killed in the explosion and that the cause is still under investigation.
