CDOT crews work to recover stuck snowplow along US 40

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is planning to try again on Monday to recover a snowplow that veered off a highway and got stuck on Friday morning.

According to CDOT, the plow had been clearing snow along US 40 at Rabbit Ears Pass on Friday morning when it veered off the road. There were no injuries.

CBS News reported that operations to recover the snowplow ended by mid-afternoon, as efforts could have caused a long closure and possibly damaged the plow.

According to CBS News, CDOT will recover the plow on Jan. 12. Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, traffic will alternate during recovery and towing operations. The recovery efforts will take most of the day, according to CBS News, so drivers should plan ahead and allow for extra travel time.
