Aurora police arrest driver, seek vehicle in fatal hit-and-run
Aurora police arrested a suspect but are still looking for the vehicle he allegedly killed a female pedestrian with near a bus stop Friday morning.
Marcos Ortega-Lopez, 31, faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death, according to a Friday news release from the Aurora Police Department.
Police first responded to the area of Havana Street and East 4th Way for a call about an auto-pedestrian hit-and-run near a bus stop just after 5:15 a.m. Friday, according to the release. Responders found a woman who died at the scene of the crash. The vehicle and suspect had driven away before police arrived.
After an initial investigation, Aurora detectives were able to identify, find and arrest Ortega-Lopez, according to the release. At the time of the crash, he allegedly was driving a blue 2007 Toyota Corolla with Colorado license plate CYXB39.
Police are still searching for the car, which they believe should have heavy front-end damage. Anyone with information about its location is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867.
