Broncos quarterback Bo Nix out for rest of playoffs with broken ankle after 33-30 OT win over Bills

The Broncos’ Super Bowl push will continue without Bo Nix.

In a stunning development minutes after Denver’s 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills at Empower Field at Mile High, Sean Payton revealed Nix sustained a broken right ankle on the second-to-last offensive snap of the win.

Nix is out for the season. The starting quarterback is scheduled to have surgery in Birmingham, Ala., on Tuesday, Payton said.

Backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham will start at quarterback for the Broncos against the Patriots-Texans winner with kickoff at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25.

“I feel like I’ve got a ‘2’ (backup quarterback) that’s capable of starting for a lot of teams,” Payton said.

Payton added, “Stiddy’s ready.”

Nix completed 26 of 46 pass attempts for 279 yards and three touchdowns as the Broncos won their first home playoff game in 10 years.

This is a developing story.
