Snowboarder at Keystone Resort dies after inbounds crash
A snowboarder died Monday afternoon after he crashed inbounds while going down a black diamond run at Keystone Resort.
Deputies first responded to the report of a crash on Lower Go Devil, a run near the Mountain House base area, just after 2 p.m. Monday, according to a social media post from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators believe the snowboarder, who was wearing a helmet and riding with several friends before he crashed, hit the snow with force without crashing into a tree, blunt object or any other person, according to the post.
One of the friends contacted Keystone Ski Patrol after the crash. The snowboarder was taken to the Keystone Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Summit County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the snowboarder in the coming days.
