Denver mayor calls for Denverites to wear Broncos gear for ‘Orange Friday’
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston on Thursday issued a proclamation declaring Jan. 23, 2026 to be “Orange Friday” in the city in honor of the Broncos.
The proclamation cites the team’s 14-3 record and No. 1 seed in the AFC heading into Sunday’s showdown with the No. 2 seeded New England Patriots. The proclamation also celebrates the team’s “grit, determination and teamwork” to get to this point — one win away from its first Super Bowl berth in 10 years.
Johnston called for the city to wear Broncos gear, including jerseys, hats and lucky socks on Friday to “turn the city orange for ORANGE FRIDAY.”
The mayor planned to rename Bannock Street on Friday at noon in front of the City and County Building.
The event is free and open to the public and will include special appearances by Broncos mascot Miles, the Broncos cheerleaders and the Denver Broncos Stampede.
