WR Troy Franklin inactive, replaced by Elijah Moore vs. Patriots
As expected, wide receiver Troy Franklin was inactive for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against New England due to a hamstring injury and was replaced by Elijah Moore.
Moore was elevated Saturday from the practice squad. The Denver Gazette had previously reported that the Broncos wanted Moore for the game at Empower Field at Mile High as a replacement for Franklin’s speed. Moore, in his fifth season, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds at the 2021 scouting combine.
Also inactive for the Broncos were center Alex Forsyth (ankle), safety JL Skinner (quad), defensive linemen Jordan Jackson and Sai’vion Jones, linebacker Karene Reid and wide receiver Michael Bandy.
Bandy was elevated Saturday as a reward to get a full game check and also to give the Patriots something addition to think about for a day.
Franklin and Forsyth were hurt in last Saturday’s 33-30 overtime win over Buffalo in a divisional playoff game. Both had been listed as questionable for the game. With Forsyth out, Sam Musipher will serve as the backup center behind Luke Wattenberg, who returns after missing three games and four weeks while on injured reserve with a left shoulder injury.
Moore appeared in his first game for the Broncos after signing Dec. 2 to the practice squad. He played in nine games earlier this season for the Bills.
Inactive for the Patriots were outside linebacker Harold Landry, cornerback Kobee Minor, tackle Marcus Bryant, guard Caedan Wallace, tight end C.J. Dippre, wide receiver Efton Chism and quarterback Tommy DeVito, the emergency quarterback.
