RTD rail service to Union Station to be halted for maintenance
The Regional Transportation District will suspend commuter rail service to and from Denver’s Union Station on the A, B, G and N lines throughout the weekend Saturday and Sunday to perform federally required maintenance.
Bus shuttles will replace train service on the impacted segments between Union Station and the first major outbound stations on each line. Full rail service on all four lines is scheduled to resume Feb. 2.
The agency announced the closure Monday, describing the work as essential track and infrastructure maintenance that necessitates a complete 48-hour shutdown of rail access at Union Station.
A Line passengers will use bus shuttles between Union Station and 38th and Blake Station. Trains will continue operating on their regular schedule between 38th and Blake Station and the Denver International Airport Station. Shuttles depart from Gate B22 in the underground bus concourse at Union Station and from the bus bridge gate on Blake Street at 38th and Blake Station.
For the B and G lines, shuttles will run between Union Station and 41st and Fox Station. Normal rail service continues beyond that point to Westminster Station on the B Line and to Wheat Ridge/Ward Road Station on the G Line. Riders can board shuttles at Gate B22 at Union Station and at Gate D at 41st and Fox Station.
N Line customers will transfer to buses between Union Station and 48th and Brighton/National Western Center Station, with regular train service resuming from there to Eastlake/124th Station. Shuttle access at Union Station is Gate B22; at 48th and Brighton/National Western Center Station, riders board at the station’s designated bus stop.
Officials advised passengers to expect longer travel times during the closure and to check for alternate trip options if needed. The agency recommended using the RTD website to explore other routes and the Next Ride web app for real-time bus and train tracking.
