Garden of the Gods featured on interior of Team USA medal ceremony look

Befitting a city that performs most of its Olympic-related work behind the scenes, Colorado Springs will be represented every time an American reaches the awards podium during the Winter Games but in a way that is hidden from view.

The Therma-FIT Air Milano Jacket from ACG and Nike that will uniformly serve as part of Team USA’s official medal ceremony look features an interior lining graphic that depicts Garden of the Gods.

The Olympics in Italy begin next week, with Opening Ceremonies slated for Feb. 6.

Other items in the Team USA apparel collection that was unveiled this week feature the famed landmark from Olympic City USA more noticeably, including the Therma-FIT ADV Reversible Skirt that includes the park’s rock formations and a bald eagle.

“The collection is crafted in the image of Team USA’s hometown,” a press release from Nike noted, “channeling the infamous Manitou Incline hike, a training ground for some of the world’s greatest athletes, and the Garden of the Gods, which serves as a powerful symbol of strength, resilience and the spirit of adventure.”

The white jacket that will be worn on the podium features dynamic warmth and personalized thermal control for athletes in all conditions. It allows athletes to regulate their temperature “without changing layers by inflating or deflating air within the jacket’s baffles, offering warmth levels that range from a lightweight hoodie to a mid-weight puffer.”

The technology was honed in Colorado through more than 380 hours of wear, Nike said. Athletes were tested through running, hiking, biking, skiing and snowboarding in various conditions.

“This innovation marks a bold new chapter for Nike,” said Amie Achtymichuk, the company’s lead apparel development innovator. “As we have successfully evolved Air technology to create an outerwear solution that serves athletes and pushes the boundaries of what apparel can do.”
