New Bass Pro Shops in Loveland to open soon

The highly-anticipated Bass Pro Shops planned for Loveland is one step closer toward opening.

The outdoor retailer announced it will hold a hiring event on Tuesday and Wednesday to hire more than 180 full-time and part-time workers. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites at 4705 Clydesdale Parkway in Loveland.

The Bass Pro Shops store is still under construction and there’s no opening date set yet, though the hiring event shows an opening is imminent. It’ll be the sixth Bass Pro Shops location in Colorado once it opens.

The company announced it would expand into Loveland in 2023. The store will be 130,000 square feet and anchor the “Brands at the Ranch” development on Interstate 25, between Denver and Cheyenne, Wyo.

“This new store will make it easier for the people and families who love to hunt the mountains and high plains of the West and fish its rich streams to spend time together in the great outdoors,” said Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris when the new store was first announced.

New Japanese restaurant will open in Cherry Creek

Reservations have opened for a new Japanese restaurant from James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole.

The new restaurant Uchiko is set to open on Feb. 17 at 299 Fillmore St. in Cherry Creek North, the owners announced. It will take the spot of the former Ginny Williams Gallery.

Uchiko is set to feature fire-centric Japanese cuisine, such as hearth-grilled pates of oysters with koji-creamed spinach, post-oak grilled sea bass with brown butter dashi and four-times seared Denver steak.

The restaurant will have fresh fish flown in daily and beef dishes such as 72-hour Australian Westholme wagyu and a tableside hot rock experience, according to Uchiko.

It’s an expansion of Cole’s other restaurant in the River North Arts District: Uchi.

The new restaurant will be led by Chef de Cuisine Andres Araujo, who worked at Uchi for five years. Uchiko will have more than 7,400 square feet of space, including a 2,300-square-foot sunroom, and can fit 163 people.
