23-year-old arrested in fatal Thornton hit-and-run; GoFundMe identifies 14-year-old victim
Thornton police identified the suspect in Saturday night’s fatal hit-and-run as 23-year-old Jeremy Nobles.
Police officials arrested Nobles on Sunday in connection with the incident, which killed 14-year-old boy, a Monday afternoon news release from the Thornton Police Department said.
Officials have not yet identified the victim, but two GoFundMe fundraisers created by the victim’s family identify him as Jayden Marrujo.
A GoFundMe page by his mother’s side of the family described Marrujo as a “loving and caring nephew, grandson and son,” who had a passion for sports and “was always willing to help others in need.”

The crash happened just before 9:45 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Thornton Parkway and Huron Street, just west of I-25, an initial news release said.
Investigators said the teenager was riding a small motorized bike northbound on Huron Street when the suspect hit him from behind, according to the initial release. The driver was moving “at a high rate of speed” and did not stop after the crash.
A GoFundMe fundraiser created by Marrujo’s father said he was on his way to a friend’s house when the crash happened.

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Huron Street remained closed for several hours for an investigation.
Investigators used Flock license plate readers to identify the suspect car and issue an alert for it. They made contact with Nobles by phone, and Nobles provided the car’s location. He was then taken into custody, Monday’s release said.
Police arrested Nobles on charges of careless driving causing serious bodily injury or death and failure to remain at the scene of a crash involving death, the release said. He was booked into Adams County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
