Denver weather: Chance of rain Thursday afternoon

A slight chance of rain moves into the Denver weather forecast on Thursday afternoon, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect a 20% chance of showers after 11 a.m. on Thursday. That 20% chance of rain continues overnight and through Friday, increasing to 40% Friday night, the weather service said.

The temperature is expected to reach 57 degrees at Denver International Airport on Thursday under party sunny skies, meteorologists said. That’s about 12 degrees warmer than the average high for Feb. 12 in Denver, according to weather service data.

Tonight, expect temperatures to dip to 32 degrees.

It’s a different story up in Colorado’s high country where snow will continue to fall Thursday morning, then begin to tail off by the afternoon, according to weather forecasters.

Drivers in Colorado’s mountains should anticipate slick, slow travel conditions for their morning commute, the weather service said.

Areas along and north of the I-70 mountain corridor are expected to get 2 to 5 inches of accumulation. The Park Range could get 3 to 6 inches of additional powder Thursday, meteorologists said.
