Where good news shines

Denver Pioneers hockey needs a strong weekend at Omaha.

The No. 8 Pioneers play at Omaha on Friday and Saturday with both games at 6 p.m. (NCHC.tv). Denver (17-11-3, 13-6-1 NCHC) stands in second place in the conference entering the pivotal series. Omaha (10-18, 6-12) is ninth.

Denver is coming off a win and a tie against archrival Colorado College. Meanwhile, Omaha generated some momentum with a 4-1 upset of No. 3 Western Michigan. North Dakota leads the NCHC with 42 points to DU’s 40.

Denver is 7-2-1 in its last 10 matchups with Omaha.
