Google dubs iconic Colorado mountain town a ‘trending spring break spot’ – where to stay for around $100 per night

According to a recent report from Google, a mountain town in Colorado is among the ‘top 10 trending spring break locations’ in the United States.

In order to determine what destinations were getting the most attention, Google analyzed its data to see which spots had the largest increase in Google Flights searches for domestic flights in March and April 2026 compared to data from the same period in 2025. As might be expected, eight of the 10 ‘trending spring break destinations’ were beach towns, but ranking 10th was a Centennial State spot far from any ocean – Vail, Colorado.

A mountain town of worldwide fame, Vail is obviously known for its skiing and trips planned around spring break can often mean hitting the slopes amid some of the best powder of the year. There’s more daylight, snowpack is close to its peak for the season, and temperatures tend to be a bit warmer compared to those of January and February.

Looking for spring break lodging near Vail that won’t break the bank? The Bunkhouse in Minturn is a good option. This hostel offers guests bunk beds for around $100 bucks a night. It’s simple, but if you’re focusing on spending time on the slopes or in town and have a means of getting to and from Minturn, it’s one of the cheapest options you’ll find in Vail Valley.

More than 3,000 miles from Vail, spring breakers will find Google’s top ‘trending spring break destination’ – Hilo, Hawaii.
