Snow expected to move into Denver Friday afternoon

Meteorologists expect a light afternoon snowfall to take aim at Denver on Friday.

The National Weather Service in Boulder said snow is likely to begin falling mainly after 2 p.m. in Denver as a weak storm system moves in, but don’t expect too much accumulation. Less than an inch is expected to stick.

The chance for snow in Denver sits at about 60% during the day and drops to about 40% overnight Friday in to Saturday, meteorologists said.

The high temperature in Denver is only expected to reach 34 degrees on Friday, that’s about 12 degrees colder than the average high for Feb. 20 in Denver, according to weather service archive data.

Colorado’s mountains are also expected to see light to moderate snow Friday and overnight into Saturday, the weather service said.

“Slick and slow travel is possible through tonight, mainly over the higher mountain passes,” the weather service said.

The snow is expected to clear out for the weekend, as sunny skies and highs in the mid-to-upper 40s are expected in Denver on Saturday and Sunday.
