Cyclist killed in crash with dump truck in Boulder County

A cyclist was killed by a dump truck near the small town of Niwot, Colorado on the morning of February 27.

Per a report from Mountain View Fire Rescue, dispatch started receiving reports about a vehicle versus cyclist collision around 11 a.m., with their team soon called to the scene at the intersection of Highway 119 (Diagonal Highway) and Niwot Road. Once at the crash, it was determined that the involved cyclist had sustained injuries described as “very severe” in a collision with the dump truck. The cyclist was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

At last report, southbound Highway 119 headed toward Boulder was expected to be closed for a significant time.

Details related to what factors were involved in the crash or who was at fault have not been released. The crash is under investigation by Colorado State Patrol.
