Teen shot dead during argument in central Aurora Friday night

A teenager was fatally shot during an argument with someone he knew in central Aurora Friday night, police said.

Police first responded to a shooting report in the 20 block of Lima Street just before 11 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 15-year-old male with apparent gunshot wounds, according to a Saturday news release from the Aurora Police Department.

The teenager was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to the release.

The initial investigation indicates that the teen and the suspect, who knew each other, first walked toward each other from opposite sides of Lima Street and struck up a short conversation before an argument broke out, according to the release.

During that argument, multiple shots were fired and the suspect then ran away from the scene in an unknown direction, according to the release. Police have not yet arrested anyone in connection with the incident.

The victim will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867.
