Highlands Ranch man sentenced after assaulting woman holding his infant
A Highlands Ranch man was sentenced to 60 days in jail and five years of probation after assaulting the mother of his child while she held the infant.
Kayahn Golgoon, 25, was convicted of second- and third-degree assault as well as child abuse by a Douglas County jury in late February after he choked the mother of his child in August 2024 while she was holding their 11-month-old infant, according to a news release from the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The jury also determined that the crimes were acts of domestic violence, according to the release.
“Although nothing can undo her suffering, our hope is this sentence brings the victim a measure of justice and peace,” said 23rd Judicial District Deputy District Attorney David Bosner, who prosecuted the case, in the release.
During the testimony, witnesses said that the incident started when the victim confronted Golgoon about doing household chores, according to the release. He then forced his way into a locked bathroom she was inside and grabbed her by the throat with both hands.
The choking led the victim to have blurred vision and dizziness, according to the release. Golgoon threw her into the sink, and then against the bathroom door, all while she was holding their infant.
23rd Judicial District Judge Victoria Klingensmith handed down the sentence.
