Rain likely in Denver, snow in the mountains on Tuesday
Denver is finally bracing for some precipitation on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Boulder said there is a 60% chance of rain in Denver on Tuesday, mainly after 11 a.m.
The high temperature is expected to reach 47 degrees in Denver on Tuesday. That’s about 4 degrees cooler than the average for March 3 in Denver, according to weather service archive data.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issues for the Front Range Mountains where 6 to 14 inches of snow could fall on Tuesday.
“Snow has fallen overnight in the mountains with I-70 at the Eisenhower Tunnel and Berthoud Pass already snow-covered,” the weather service said.
The Park and Gore Range mountains could get between 2 and 5 inches of accumulation, forecasters said.
Meteorologists said the slick, snow-covered roads in the mountains will cause difficult travel conditions for motorists on Tuesday, but rain in Denver and the plains are not expected to cause much impact.
Tonight, the weather service said a 40% chance for rain continues in Denver before 11 p.m. After that, clouds will start to clear slightly.
Wednesday looks like it will sunny and clear before a chance for light snow moves into the forecast on Friday, forecasters project.
