Denver weather: Sunny and warm Wednesday ahead of Friday snow

Sunny skies and warm temperatures are on tap for Denver on Wednesday, but snow is on the way, meteorologists said.

The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect a high temperature of 63 degrees in Denver on Wednesday. That’s about 12 degrees warmer than the average high for March 4 in Denver, according to weather service archive data. The record high for this date is 76 degrees set back in 2009.

Tonight, expect increasing clouds as the temperature dips to about 35 degrees. Temperatures are expected to climb to 68 degrees Thursday, forecasters said.

Looking ahead to Friday, “widespread snow” moves back into the Denver weather forecast. There’s a 50% chance of snow Thursday night into Friday morning, increasing to an 80% chance of snowfall on Friday, the weather service said.

“The Friday morning commute may be impacted due to the snow across lower elevations,” the weather service said.

Meteorologists predict the biggest impacts from Friday’s snowstorm will be along the western foothills, including Boulder, Golden and Evergreen, and the southern part of the metro area, such as Centennial and Parker. Those areas will see winter driving conditions and are advised to use caution while driving, the weather service said.
